2nd Annual Choose Austin First .2K Run

2nd Annual .2K Run
Sunday, April 3, 2005
For the second year in a row, beautiful weather graced the Choose Austin First .2k Run. Hundreds of people attended the event, sampling free food and beverages, listening to live music and visiting with Austin-owned businesses, including Total Relief Footwear.

Poking light-hearted fun at the Austin running community, the .2k is described “As Far As You Can Run Without Spilling Your (Root) Beer.” The event was held on the grounds of Pok-e-Jo’s Smokehouse on West 5th Street in downtown Austin.

Attendees were given a race bib and encouraged to weave their way through a course of over 75 vendor booths. After getting the required number of stamps on their race bibs, they received a .2K T-Shirt acknowledging that they had finished this “grueling” race. Along the way, participants savored free food from restaurants including Maudie’s, El Arroyo, Mangia Pizza, Iguana Grill and many others. To top things off, free samples of Amy’s Ice Cream and plenty of liquid refreshments were also available.
